I recently had the opportunity to shoot two of the three stops of the Vans Sk8 Hi best trick competition at a few Toronto’s local skateparks. $500 Cash and prizes, 3 best trick contests at each location, and the kids were hungry for some money judging by how hard they went. Featuring skating by Jon Gonsalves, Kirk Roach, Griffin Kirby, Joel Scullard, Jon Cos, Zack Ferguson,Ben Paterson, Lee Yankou, Kong, Nolan Waller and a bunch of other heads. Additional filming by Luke Fenton and Joel Dolman. Hope we see you all again next year!
I know I know, another skateloft edit. No, not just one, but two! What can I say, its hard to skate outside in this city during the winter months, so we work with what we have. And the loft is the spot! Enjoy while waiting for the warm spring weather.
A couple edits I submitted for the Hammer/ Tangent/ Skateloft contest. Its cool watching the more recent stuff again, but looking back on some of the old clips of Max and Blake killing it hypes me up more than anything else to skate, because it reminds me of those old days when we spent every single day in the streets. Classic. Enjoy.
Here are a couple little edits from the loft over the last few weeks, the first being a little session with Derrick Stryder Flocka, Nicky Young and Zack Ferguson on some ledges and a launch. The second edit is from last nights Third Quarter profits premier, with skating by Nicky Young, Blake Saye, Josh Forgues, Nolan Waller, Erick Valentic, and Mitch Donovan. The winter is slowly creeping up, meaning that anyone hoping to get a skate session in is going to have to head towards the skate loft. I had been off my board for a few months due to a busy work schedule, so when the chance to get a couple sessions in with some friends at the loft arose I was there in a heartbeat. I had forgotten how much fun skating there was, from the perfect mini to the hype of just getting to session with friends again. Had the opportunity a few weeks ago to visit NYC for the first time with some buddies for a little skate mission. For years people have been telling me how much I would love it, and man were they ever right. That city is incredible – I mean I love Toronto and everything it has to offer, but I have never felt an energy like the one in New York. Having only 4 short days to skate around and check things out, I instantly realized that you need at least a few weeks in this city to get a real vibe for it. Here is some footage I shoot, with skating by Nathan Dell-Vandenberg, Nick Pierre, Yash Presswalla, Everett Maclean, and myself. Didn’t get tons of good shots, but I was honestly just too overwhelmed by everything the place had to offer to have my camera out the whole time. Like most of the best things in life, this place just left me wanting more. Big ups to all the EY guys for setting everything up and inviting me along! Again soon!
This past Saturday the LRG skate team rolled through Ashbridges Bay skate plaza and sessioned with the locals for a few hours. Tricks got thrown down on nearly every obstacle the park has to offer, and the kids were hyped on getting autographs from real live professional skaters. Featuring plank rolling from Rob Gonzales, Billy Marks and Tommy Sandoval, with music by the Black Keyes. FEEL REEL GOOD.
A 35 second edit from Ashbridges Bay featuring Tanner Grisbrook and Blake Saye, as well a some footage from the first Old Mans Bowl Jam at East York skatepark, featuring Everett Maclean, Nick Pierre, Kyle Troll, Andrew Davidson, Matty Mo, and myself.
